"Single
lessons were £9. The lessons are cheaper if you book in
block, I think it's £85 for 12 lessons. You can use them
as credit and they don't have to used in the same month.
The lessons are expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Roger
won bronze @ the 2000 mundials. He comes from the same
camp as Leo "Leozino" Viera, Rodrigo "Comprido" Mederios,
Fabio Gurgel and countless other champions coming from
the instruction from the legendary Jacare. He was also
the person who trained Chris Brennan (KOTC champ) at BJJ
The
class is in a small gym, Rodger is currently looking for
a better larger venue, but central london is very hard
to get an affordable place as any instructor will know!!
There has been a new tuesday lesson at the Budowai starting
at 6.30. Centre membership is £10, lessons are £7.
The
belt mix and weight mix is incredible varied. There are
many starters as well as 3 purples, many blues of mixed
levels. Occassionally there are two black belt instructors.
The
atmosphere is very friendly and open. Just start chatting
to anyone and they will be friendly back. The lessons
are well structured looking at a single aspect or area
per session. I.e. guard passing, half guard looking at
a move and then the various "what if" scenarios. There
is normally at least half an hour sparring, where you
will mix with various levels.
For
directions to Seymour Place go to the Edgware Road hammersmith
and city line stop( directions for the other station is
different) come out the station and turn left down chapel
street. When you get to the end of the street there is
a small road on the opposite side of the road and go down
there (Homer Place I think) then take the first left and
first right. The gym is immediately on your right. Ask
the staff about where the dojo is and just chat to any
of the BJJ guys who will introduce you to roger and everyone
else.
Lessons
there are Monday & thursday @ 8.30, friday@ 7.30, saturday@
4, sunday @3. No gym member ship is required." info
