2h2h bas rutten interview : SFUK's mixed martial arts reports

Everybody knows Bas Rutten. He was one of the first well rounded fighters, King of Pancrase, UFC champion and now he is acting. He is a great entertainer and a superb fighter. At the 2H2H show he was commentating the fight together with Stephan Quadros. Bas Rutten was after the show hanging around and I pulled him of the stage to do a interview.

SFUK Holland : What do you think of the show Bas?

Bas Rutten : Super night, everything was super. Good fights, hard fights.

SFUK Holland : You just announced you will fight here at 2H2H. Under which rules will you fight?

Bas Rutten : Vale Tudo rules. Like in PRIDE. The more I can do, the better. (smiles)

SFUK Holland : Any idea who is going to be your opponent?

Bas Rutten : We are trying to get somebody, but first we will have to see if it everything will go as planned.

SFUK Holland : I heard you would like to fight Wanderlei Silva?

Bas Rutten : Yeah I would like that or Frank Shamrock should be great also.

SFUK Holland : And PRIDE?

Bas Rutten : No, we are negotiating and well see if it will work out. I don’t know. For me it would be good if I could fight over here. I like it here and of course it is my home country.

SFUK Holland : What was the best fight tonight Bas?

Bas Rutten : Ah come on I cant say that, there were lots of good fights. Paul Cahoon Vs Joop Kasteel. Sergei Bytchkov Vs Brian Lo A Njoe and Bob Schreiber Vs Gilbert Yvel. Those were the best matches I think, it was really like: who is the strongest in the mind.

SFUK Holland : How about organizing yourself?

Bas Rutten : No, I am to busy for that. I do my commentating for PRIDE, there is a new coming organization in the USA and now 2H2H. No, it is to busy. I have to many things in my head.

SFUK Holland : What are you acting right now?

Bas Rutten : I am busy with a movie together with Mr. Funaki (famous Japanese fighter). But that will only be in the cinemas in Japan, here it will be in the Video shop only. And I have a little role in a movie together with DMX, it will be in the cinema here. I am busy with other things to.

SFUK Holland : Any word for the fans?

Bas Rutten : Keep on watching an hopefully I will be here 13 October to fight a good match.

SFUK Holland : I'll name a few fighters and I would like to have your opinion about them, lets start with Heath Herring?

Bas Rutten : Super, superfighter. Lets say I am glad I don’t fight in the heavyweight class anymore.

SFUK Holland : Wanderlei Silva?

Bas Rutten : Very aggressive, real good. And I would like to fight him.

SFUK Holland : Igor Vovchanchin?

Bas Rutten : Super tough. Just like Sergei Bytchkov tonight. Sergei is like Igor, I think he has lot of him only in a smaller version haha.

SFUK Holland : Valentijn Overeem?

Bas Rutten : Very good, I am glad he won this evening. He was also listing real well to his corner, as I was sitting next to them. Allister Overeem was also very good, he can be a big one I believe and Paul Cahoon. They all performed great tonight.

SFUK Holland : Remco Pardoel?

Bas Rutten : Great guy, I used to work out with him in my early days. And he is one of the MMA pioneers in Holland.

SFUK Holland : The biggest talent that is coming up?

Bas Rutten : It could be Allister Overeem, he can do it all. Submissions, striking, just everything.
