2h2h ernesto hoost interview : SFUK's mixed martial arts reports

A man who needs no introduction, winning the K1 Grand Prix several times. And the Dutch fans could watch him at the 2H2H show in 2001. A Dutch television program was following him and Peter Aerts trough the long way to K1. A very humble and nice guy, but in the ring he changes his name into Mr. Perfect.

SFUK Holland : Could you please tell something about you latest tournament (K1Grand Prix)?

Ernesto Hoost : Yes, that was in Tokyo Dome. Well my fight against Leko is well known. I kicked his elbow to pieces but also my own foot. I was broken.

SFUK Holland : Was Leko’s elbow broken?

Ernesto Hoost : Yes, I just spoke to him at the show and he told me it was broken.

SFUK Holland : So he went in to the next fight with a broken elbow?

Ernesto Hoost : Of course, I have had a injury at my arm I also would continue to fight. The problem for me is just that I could not walk anymore, so no fighting either.

SFUK Holland : What’s in the future for you Ernesto? Any upcoming matches?

Ernesto Hoost : Well I am busy with talking to people and negotiating. But I hope I can fight next month, that’s something I really want. And maybe in May, in Paris. And of course I expect I can fight this year again in the K1 Grand Prix.

SFUK Holland : Any idea who is your next opponent?

Ernesto Hoost : Yeah well, people are talking again about Stefan Leko. For me it is not important who is I am going to fight.

SFUK Holland : Is this a tournament or a single match?

Ernesto Hoost : No it’s a single match. I am still recovering and I think I should take it easy.

SFUK Holland : What do you think about the 2H2H show tonight?

Ernesto Hoost : Great fun as always! Yes I really like it.

SFUK Holland : Did you want to be on the card?

Ernesto Hoost : Yes for sure. But on the other side, I am not ready yet, I am still in my preparation. It is cool to fight in my home country but I want to do it 100%.

SFUK Holland : From what fight do you expect the most?

Ernesto Hoost : For me the best fight is Simson Vs Balrak for sure. Two guys who really deserve the title and I look forward to it.

SFUK Holland : And if it goes to the mixed fights?

Ernesto Hoost : Well I am a K1 fighter you know, I am not that deep into MMA. But the Schrijber Vs Yvel match should be a good fight. Not only for me, but I think for the most.

SFUK Holland : Any words for the fans?

Ernesto Hoost : I will fight again for 100% this year and of course I will do everything to qualify for the Grand Prix this year.

SFUK Holland : You are not starting thinking about quitting do you?

Ernesto Hoost : Well I am not getting any younger of course. But as long as I feel healthy and good. And when I still can move along with the boys and training is still going well. I think I should be fine!
