Paul Cahoon interview

paul cahoon

Paul Cahoon made his debut at RINGS Holland against Joop Kasteel, entering the ring as a unknown fighter and leaving the ring as ‘’the British Bulldog’’. He fought in Japan recently but lost, on a split decision. And he lost due a cut above his eye against Rodney Faverus. He is a funny guy, has good jokes and a nice person. This young man has a future full of MMA, he is working hard to become the best and he has one thing that several top fighters miss: the heart of a British lion.

What is your record at the moment Paul?

Paul Cahoon : 8 matches.

Interviewer: Have you ever lost?

Paul Cahoon : Yes, I did lost but I have been screwed by the referees several times. And ofcourse you lose sometime, it's the game.

Interviewer: Your fight against John Weir? (at Andy Jardine's UFN)

Paul Cahoon : Well I was supposed to fight Mark Weir, but a couple days before the fight Andy Jardine came to me and told me to lose weight for fighting Mark Weir. I lost by a cut, but I really beat him up. Nobody agreed but I cant turn back time!

Interviewer: Who did you train in the UK?

Paul Cahoon : London Shootfighters. I liked it there!

Interviewer: Who do you train at Golden Glory?

Paul Cahoon : I train with Fatih Kocamis, Chalid Arrab, the Overeem brothers, Heath Herring, Remco Pardoel and of course my trainer Cor Hemmers.

Interviewer: What is it like to fight for GG?

Paul Cahoon : Well it is great. Everybody has his own specialty, I like Fatih for his all roundness, Gilbert Yvel his striking, the explosive power of Valentijn and so on. It is a great team.

Interviewer: Any comment on the Joop Kasteel fight?

Paul Cahoon : Well it was a tough fight and I had four days to prepare, but I liked it very much. He is a huge guy and a great sportsman. I am glad I won.

Interviewer: Where do you live in England?

Paul Cahoon : Liverpool, but now I stay in Holland. Were I live in a house together with Fatih Kocamis and Chalid Arrab, it is great fun!! We all get along well!

Paul and Chalid.

Interviewer: Who is the best fighter in your opinion?

Paul Cahoon : As I said before every fighter has something that I like. I don’t have a particular fighter.

Interviewer: In England?

Paul Cahoon : James Zikic, this guy is my favourite! I respect him a lot, he has heart, power and a great personality! Watch out for this guy!

Interviewer: Who would you like to fight? (Fatih just walked in the room).

Paul Cahoon : Fatih Kocamis, like the movie in Kickboxer, our hands covered in glue and glass on it, no rules because we have to settle things right hahaha. No just kidding, I would like to fight Dan Henderson, Tito Ortiz, Vitor Belfort, Vanderlei Silva etc. I will fight everybody everywhere!

Interviewer: Who is next for you Paul?

Paul Cahoon : Martin Malchasian in Russia and ofcourse Joop Kasteel at 2H2H. A rematch!

Interviewer: Anything else you would like to say to your fans in the UK and the rest of the world?

Paul Cahoon : Thanks everybody who helped me. And just remember: many people will let you down, they wont give you the luck to reach your goal. Always keep your head up and achieve your goal as good as possible!

Interviewer: Thanks Paul and good luck with your next fight!

Paul Cahoon : Thanks mate!
