Ortiz Interview 12th July 2002
JB.
Hi Tito. First of all congratulations on the
birth of your son. How's he coming along?
Tito
Ortiz : Thanks a lot. Really good,
he's getting huge man, he's getting bigger
by the day. I was talking to my wife on the
phone and he was actually starting to coo
and make noies as if he's trying to talk.
He going to be an intelligent kid I believe.
JB.
How's your knee?
Tito
Ortiz : The knees doing good.
I'm going into the fourth month in about a
week. I still have a little more physical
therapy to do, a little more time. It's getting
strong, the range of motion's 100% so it's
just a matter of getting my strength back.
JB.
You're signed to fight Ken (Shamrock) in November..
Tito
Ortiz : Yes
JB.
I understand that's a title fight.
Tito
Ortiz : I need a warm up fight,
(there's) no one better than Ken Shamrock
y'know? It's going to be another stepping
stone, another notch on my belt. He's a super
super tough fighter but his time's done. He's
a fighter of the old, I'm a fighter of the
new.
JB.
What do you think of his comeback performances?
What do you think of the Don Frye match?
Tito
Ortiz : That was a great match
but he's not fighting Don Frye, he's fighting
Tito Ortiz. The ferocity that I'm going to
bring into the ring, he's never used to it
so it's going to be a good match.
JB.
Are you going to finish it within the distance?
Tito
Ortiz : It's going to be done
in three rounds.
JB.
How?
Tito
Ortiz : Either referee stoppage
or knockout.
JB.
What do you think about the UFC being in the
UK?
Tito
Ortiz : It's awesome man. The
chance to be in the Royal Albert Hall, it's
an honour to be there. You get to be in the
history books in England for once and it's
good, it's a good feeling.
JB.
Thanks Tito.
Tito
Ortiz : Thanks.
