| The Guv'nor by Lenny McLean & Micheal Malley | Review by Anthony Thomas | |
|
What an excellent read from start to finish. It is the type of book that once you pick it up, you cannot put it down. Stories are from a wide variety of topics ranging from Lennys childhood, fighting gypseys, battles with Roy Shaw, conflicts with the IRA and American Mafia and also doorman stories. All the tales will have you riveted. Due to the way the book is written it comes across like you have known Lenny all your life. After watching Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and seeing the way Lenny portrays Barry The Baptist you get to see one side of Lenny. On the other hand, the majority of people who met Lenny have described him as a very kind and gentle man who would help you out no matter the circumstances. It is a shame that Lenny passed away without knowing that his biography had reached number one in the best-selling book charts. But it was his life story and he would have known that it was going to be a hit. I hope that when the film is released it will live up to expectations and that it does the book justice. Also keep an eye out for a brand new book coming out in May by best-selling author Peter Gerrard entitled The Guvnor A Tribute. A photo history of The Guvnor Lenny Mclean. R.I.P BIGMAN.
