Harbingers are amongst the best MMA gloves you can buy. The trouble is they are designed as a bag glove and the palm bar must be removed for grappling purposes.

Here's how to remove the palm bar step by step.

You will need:

• Seam Ripper, also known as a Quick Unpick - it's the pink harpoon looking tool below or..
• A small pair of scissors - the ones you get with a Swiss Army Knife are ideal

OK, here's what you do. Carefully, unpick the stitching around the leather rectangle that covers the palm bar. Be VERY careful to unpick that double line of stitching ONLY. Take special care around the thumb area, where it's easy to get trigger happy and unpick the thumb of the glove as well.

That's it! Easy.

Ready to rock.

Further modifications

You may wish to modify your Harbingers further. You can:

• Cut away the palm - much like the Ouano UFC gloves
• Some people also cut out the padding of the first knuckle or remove it completely for a more compact glove.
• Remove the thumb.
• Cut away the padding just above the wrist.
